The Department of Neighborhood Development (DND) is re-starting the community engagement process around a site composed of 11 City-owned parcels between Parker Street and Terrace Street. This site had been slated for development, but unfortunately, due to a number of factors, the proposed project was deemed infeasible. At the upcoming community meeting, DND will explain the factors that led to this decision, and lead the first of several discussions with the neighborhood to determine objectives that will shape how this site might be developed by a new team.

DND and Boston Society for Architecture ("BSA") staff will discuss the City-owned parcels at 61-65 Woodrow Avenue and the BSA 'Community + Design' Program, respectively, at a meeting hosted by the Woodrow Avenue Neighborhood Association.

DND will host a networking session on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Attendees will have an opportunity to network with other potential applicants and industry professionals. DND hosted information sessions following the release of the Request For Proposal (RFP). Staff from DND, the City of Boston Office of Economic Development (OED), the Black Economic Council of Massachusetts (BECMA), Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC), and Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation (MHIC), and Foundation for Business Equity (FBE) will be there to provide information on various topics, including;
-application and development process
-basics of financing and financing options
-opportunities for technical support
-Networking and team-building opportunities

DND, in partnership with Highland Park Project Review Committee, is seeking feedback on the proposed permanent use of these parcels as open space, including a community garden.

The Department of Neighborhood Development attended the Intervale St./ Normandy St. ResidentsAssociation; Devon, Normandy, Brunswick Sts. Residents Association and Stanwood St./ Columbia Road Neighborhood Association to discuss what the community would like for the city-owned parcel,90 Geneva Ave, in anticipation of an upcoming Affordable Housing RFP.

DND released an RFP in February 2021 for preservation of this parcel as urban agriculture, and received one proposal from Boston Food Forest Coalition in partnership with Farmers Collaborative. DND will hold a virtual Developer Presentation so that BFFC/Farmers Collaborative can present their proposed design for the project, which includes a greenhouse and beehives, and seek feedback from abutters and other neighbors.
