Frog Pond Spray Pool reopened

Children and their guests counted down with Mayor Janey to open the Frog Pond for the 2021 season after a hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mayor Kim Janey, Boston Parks Commissioner Ryan Woods, and The Skating Club of Boston kicked off the 2021 summer season as the Boston Common Frog Pond spray pool reopened on Thursday, June 24. The day included a fun and exciting celebration followed by a countdown to the fountain spraying high into the air. The event was made possible by lead sponsor Highland Partners Charitable Fund.

The Frog Pond spray pool is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. until Labor Day. The facility is managed by The Skating Club of Boston and staffed by youth workers from the Boston Youth Fund. For further information, please call the Frog Pond at 617-635-2120.

The young (and young at heart) celebrated the unofficial start of summer after a long year of COVID restrictions.

Attendees enjoyed tasty Hood Ice Cream Sandwiches provided by in-kind sponsor HP Hood LLC and distributed by the Boston Police Bureau of Community Engagement from their ice cream truck.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center Boston’s Master Model Builder was on hand to build fun LEGO creations with children. Mayor Janey posed with life size football, basketball, hockey, and baseball Championship trophies… all made of LEGO!

New England Dairy, a non-profit education organization that serves as the voice of local dairy farmers, was on site to celebrate all things dairy—farming, food, nutrition, and wellness.
