Mayor Walsh announces the Get Biking Challenge for National Bike Month

In celebration of National Bike Month in May, Boston Bikes is challenging K-8 students and teachers in Boston Public Schools to track participation in the Challenge by recording the number of minutes they ride each day.  A participation update will be shared halfway through the month to track progress as schools compete to win prizes.  Prizes include the Golden Pedal Award, free bike raffles, a bike field trip, and more.

“Good exercising habits start young, and the Boston Bikes Get Biking Challenge is a fun way to encourage kids to get active and get comfortable with cycling,” said Mayor Walsh.

The Get Biking Challenge is a part of Boston Bikes’ commitment to empowering youth through cycling education, safety and advocacy. Nine schools have already registered, including Mather Elementary, Nathan Hale Elementary, and William H. Ohrenberger Elementary.
