Summer Activities for July
This month, we look at exciting options to celebrate the summer in Boston.
After a year of lockdown and reduced events, the demand to return to public life and activities has never been larger. The summer is a perfect time to take much needed time off, recharge our mental health, create new memories, and enjoy experiences we have all been missing. With Boston’s ongoing reopening and return to a full range of entertainment and educational options for individuals and families, we wanted to take the time this month to point out some of our favorite events and locations, listed below:
- As always, we like to highlight the yearly Boston Parks Fitness Series, which continues through October. This is an excellent way to build fitness and get out in the community.
- The Boston Centers for Youth and Families is offering swimming programing this summer, on a limited registration basis, for free!
- The Museum of Fine Arts is reopened to the public without mask requirements and is an excellent place to get lost in for days. Tickets are still timed entry, so book your reservation in advance and be sure to enter during the window.
- Other terrific major Boston museums and educational attractions to visit or revisit include the Isabelle Stewart Gardner Museum, the Museum of Science, the JFK Presidential Library and Museum, and of course the Boston Aquarium.
- Many longtime city residents have never experienced the ever engaging and entertaining Freedom Trail, with numerous different types and styles of themed tours.
- Another excellent site is Castle Island, a historic site that is perfect for a midsummer picnic. Check out this blog post for a list of 10 ideas on what to do with kids on the island!
- We also recommend taking a tour of the Arnold Arboretum this summer, its beautiful vistas and trails offer a good escape from the stress of day-to-day life. Be sure to check out the Arboretum Website for free guided tours to accompany your visit!
- Boston Harborfest, a now resumed yearly celebration from July 1st- July 4th, offers a schedule jam packed full of historic tours, live music, and much more.
- Finally, for even more to do in the Boston area and beyond, check out the following lists for more:
From all of us at the EAP, we encourage you to engage in one of these activities this summer. Have a wonderful July.
