Julia Vasta
Julia Vasta is a Senior Analyst on the Citywide Analytics Team where she leads strategic data analytics projects with departments across the city. Her work involves helping departments strategize how to leverage their data to improve operations and service delivery for constituents, building data products, and designing analyses to understand policy needs and help City leadership make data-informed decisions. Past projects have included helping to design the rollout of the curbside composting pilot program in 2022, collaborating on identifying optimal locations for new Bluebikes stations, and analyzing real-time Waze data to estimate impacts of road construction on traffic and driving speeds.
Prior to this role, Julia was first introduced to public service through a summer fellowship with the Mayor's Office of Recovery Services in 2020. There she conducted policy research and built a mapping tool for the Mass/Cass Coordinated Response Team to track 311 cases and help streamline response efforts.
Julia has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Spanish from Cornell University, a Master of Public Policy degree from Northeastern University, and is currently a Moakley Scholarship recipient pursuing her M.S. in Data Science at Northeastern University, which she aims to apply to a career in public sector data science.
In her free time she likes to run into friends around JP, hang with her cats, and find the best swimming spots around Greater Boston.
