What is BERDO?

Boston’s Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO) is a local law that aims to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions generated by large buildings in Boston. Starting in either 2025 or 2030, building owners will need to comply with building emissions standards (i.e., emissions limits). These emissions standards decrease over time, with all buildings expected to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.

October 4, 2025
Event Date2025-10-04T10:00:00 - 2025-10-04T13:00:00

Fixit Clinics are free workshops where people bring broken stuff—from bikes to blenders to blazers—and volunteer Fixit Coaches share their time, tools, and know-how to help troubleshoot and (hopefully) repair items. The City of Boston Environment Department is partnering with Boston Building Resources to host one of these events.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
  • A broken gadget, small appliance, computer, toy, textile good, or other item

  • Useful tools and parts, if you have them

  • A description of what’s wrong and anything you’ve tried to fix it—advance online research is helpful

  • A desire to learn and share your knowledge!

These events are family-friendly and open to all. Interested in becoming a Fixit Coach yourself? Come lend a hand.
